“The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two” is one of the most highly cited papers in psychology. It argues that the number of objects an average human can hold in working memory is 7 ± 2. This is frequently referred to as Miller’s Law. Recent research suggests this number may in fact be lower, perhaps 3 or 4 !
To fully appreciate how important FOCUS is we need to consider the millions of pieces of information we are constantly bombarded with every day, compared to our limited capacity to hold this information in our working memory, that Miller’s law suggests.
Living in SYNC is living in FOCUS. It recognizes that when we design our personal life plan we need absolute clarity and FOCUS around what our values, purpose and goals are. By retaining clarity and FOCUS we can avoid the risk of being distracted by the seemingly infinite flow of information, drifting from one thing to the next, living out of SYNC.
What you FOCUS on is what you get. By embracing this concept, you will become the director of your own movie. You will be writing the script and delivering the Oscar winning performance. FOCUS forces you to design and execute a personal life plan that is in SYNC with who you are and how you want to live your life.
