For those of you in Sydney, did you notice anything unusual at 1:37am this morning? Odds are you were, like me, sound asleep and didn’t observe the start of the new moon phase of the lunar cycle.
The different phases of the 28 day lunar cycle each have a unique energy (or vibration) and by syncing this to our monthly calendar we can plan our tasks for the time when we are in the best position to perform them.
The period of the new moon is the best time to ;
- initiate things like a business venture, a relationship or a creative project.
- make wishes that symbolise new beginnings.
- set goals and plan ahead.
It’s important to set aside 30 minutes during the new moon phase to think about what defines you. What are your values and goals?
Use your imagination to create your own little sacred space with a candle, maybe burn some incense, play meditation music in the background and sip on some herbal tea. As you sit and breath calmly, try writing a list of your values and goals. The act of writing helps you to clarify and focus your thoughts. Once completed, your list will become important as you need to continually refer to it over the course of the coming month.
Try and get into the habit of performing this exercise with each new moon. Each time you should rewrite your list, on a fresh sheet of paper, getting rid of the things that no longer define who you are and add new things that do.
